The Q-Endorsement certifies you to operate vehicles equipped with air brake systems—a critical requirement for most commercial trucks and buses in Alberta.
To obtain it, drivers must complete an approved Air Brake Course, which includes both in-class theory and practical hands-on training. The course covers how air brake systems work, proper inspection procedures, and safe operation techniques.
This endorsement ensures you’re not only legally qualified to drive vehicles with air brakes—but also equipped with the knowledge and skills to do so safely and confidently in real-world conditions.
Our Air Brake (Q-Endorsement) program is designed to meet Alberta’s updated commercial driver training standards. This focused course equips you with the knowledge and practical skills required to operate vehicles equipped with air brake systems—an essential step for Class 1, 2, and 3 drivers.
The program includes a minimum of 8 hours of structured instruction, combining in-class theory and hands-on, in-yard training. You’ll learn how air brake systems function, how to conduct proper inspections, and how to operate them safely under real-world conditions.
Upon successful completion of the training and written knowledge test, the Q-Endorsement is added to your Alberta driver’s licence, allowing you to legally operate air brake-equipped vehicles.
