AGP Driving School is Alberta’s trusted truck training provider offering fully certified, hands-on programs for commercial Class 1, Class 2, Class 3, Q Endorsement (Air Brakes), S Endorsement (School Bus), and the Class 1 Experience & Equivalency (E&E) program. Whether you’re starting fresh or upgrading your existing license, we provide the real-world training you need to launch your driving career.
Our Class 1 program is built around Alberta’s new Learning Pathway, which replaces the old MELT framework and sets a higher, phased standard for commercial driver training. This program includes a minimum of 108 hours of structured instruction, covering online theory, in-yard exercises, in-cab driving, and air brake certification.
By default, completion of the standard 108-hour pathway grants you a provincially restricted Class 1 license, which allows you to operate tractor-trailers within Alberta only. To remove the restriction and gain full unrestricted Class 1 status (valid across Canada), students must complete an additional 17–25 hours of advanced competency development training.
This course is ideal for individuals pursuing a career in:
Long-haul or regional freight transport
Oilfield and construction hauling
Heavy logistics or fleet operations
Cross-province and national carrier roles (with unrestricted certification)
Our instructors focus on real-world readiness, ensuring every graduate is not only licensed but fully prepared for industry standards and employer expectations.
Our Class 2 program is designed to prepare drivers for operating large passenger vehicles such as city buses, motor coaches, and commercial shuttles. This comprehensive training provides the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to operate safely, professionally, and confidently in real-world transit environments.
Throughout the course, students learn to conduct full vehicle inspections, manage passenger safety, and navigate both urban and highway routes under the guidance of experienced instructors. The program also covers in-yard maneuvering, emergency procedures, and effective communication practices.
Graduates of this program are eligible to obtain a Class 2 Alberta driver’s license, which permits the operation of vehicles with seating for more than 24 passengers, as well as Class 3, 4, and 5 vehicles. Those intending to drive school buses can add an S Endorsement upon completion of the required improvement program.
This course is ideal for individuals seeking careers in public transit, charter services, school transportation, or private fleet operations. Whether you’re starting fresh or advancing your qualifications, our Class 2 training ensures you’re ready for the road ahead.
Our Class 3 program prepares you to operate heavy single-unit vehicles such as dump trucks, cement mixers, flatbeds, and garbage trucks. Whether you’re entering construction, municipal services, or fleet operations, this course provides the hands-on training and licensing preparation you need to get to work.
You’ll learn essential skills including vehicle inspections, shifting techniques, in-yard maneuvers, and real-world road driving with expert instruction. The program includes both classroom and practical training, with a strong focus on safety and control.
To qualify, students must hold a valid Class 5 non-GDL license, complete air brake certification (Q Endorsement), and pass Alberta’s Class 3 knowledge and road tests. This is a fast, effective pathway into high-demand driving roles across Alberta’s industrial and commercial sectors.
The Q Endorsement is mandatory for operating any vehicle equipped with air brakes in Alberta. This certification involves both classroom theory and practical training, covering air brake system components, inspection procedures, and safe operation techniques. Upon successful completion of the program and written test, the Q Endorsement is added to your driver’s license.
The S Endorsement is required for drivers operating school buses in Alberta. This certification ensures drivers are trained in student safety, emergency preparedness, and school-specific regulations. To obtain it, applicants must complete the School Bus Driver Improvement Program in addition to holding a valid Class 2 license and Q Endorsement.
The Class 1 Experience & Equivalency (E&E) Program is for drivers with verified Class 1-equivalent experience who want to challenge the Alberta Class 1 road test. To qualify, applicants must provide proof of past commercial driving experience, complete air brake certification, and pass both the knowledge and road tests. It’s an efficient path to Class 1 licensing for experienced drivers who meet provincial requirements.
