What is the E&E Program?

The Experience & Equivalency (E&E) Program is designed for skilled drivers who already have hands-on experience operating heavy vehicles. Rather than completing the full MELT program, qualified drivers can go through this streamlined process to demonstrate their capabilities and earn a Class 1 licence.

At AGP Driving School, we offer a clear path to assessment, feedback, and Class 1 readiness—based on your real-world experience.

What We Offer

Class 1 Experience & Equivalency Program

AGP’s Class 1 E&E program is built around Alberta’s modern Learning Pathway, which replaces the former MELT framework with a higher, phased standard for commercial driver training. Designed specifically for experienced Class 3 drivers, this pathway streamlines the upgrade process while ensuring competency at every level.

The E&E course includes a minimum of 57 hours of structured training, covering:

  • Online theory modules

  • In-yard practical instruction

  • In-cab driving sessions

  • Alberta Air Brake (Q Endorsement) certification

Licensing Note:
Graduates of the E&E pathway receive a Class 1 licence with an Alberta-only restriction by default. To gain full, unrestricted Class 1 status (valid across Canada), drivers must complete an additional 17–25 hours of advanced competency training.
